Probe into East Kilbride betting shop robbery

Police are hunting two men who carried out an armed robbery at a bookmakers in South Lanarkshire.

The men, who wore masks, entered Ladbrokes, Greenhill Square, East Kilbride, at about 21:00 on Thursday.

One of the men threatened a male member of staff with a knife before both escaped with several hundred pounds.

The first suspect was about 25 years old, 6ft tall and spoke with a local accent. The second suspect was about 25 years old and 5ft 10in tall.

No-one was injured during the robbery.

Det Con Brian Scanlan, of Strathclyde Police, said: "Ladbrokes sits in Greenhill Square, an area busy with shops and pubs.

"There would've been lots of people around at the time of the robbery."

The detective appealed for "anyone who saw what happened or noticed anything suspicious" to contact police.
