Burst water main affects supplies to homes on Bute

Some households on the Isle of Bute are still without water or suffering low pressure to supplies after a burst main was repaired on Sunday.

Scottish Water said the problem occurred between the Dhuloch Water Treatment Works and Rothesay.

Much of the island's water supply has been restored but some homes in high-lying areas still have problems.

Supplies of bottled water are available to affected homes while work to resolve the issue continues.

A Scottish Water spokesman said: "We apologise to customers who are continuing to be affected by this incident.

"We believe that there is an air lock or air locks in the system which is preventing water supplies from reaching high-lying properties.

"We are working flat out to resolve this problem. We have delivered supplies of bottled water to the areas affected and will be ensuring fresh consignments are available for customers today.

"Any customer with concerns about their supply should contact Scottish Water's contact centre."
