Driver Phillip Hogg denies James Burns death charge
A driver is to stand trial accused of causing the death of a motorcyclist in a road accident in South Lanarkshire.
Phillip Hogg is charged with colliding with James Burns, 53, on the A70 near Carnwath on 7 September 2011.
The 42-year-old, of South Queensferry, Edinburgh, is alleged to have hit an on-coming bike ridden by Mr Burns while overtaking another vehicle.
At the High Court in Glasgow, Mr Hogg entered a not guilty plea to a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
Prosecutors claim that Mr Hogg had consumed alcohol before the fatal crash.
Judge Lord Uist set a trial due to begin in May. It is expected the case will last up to four days.
