Woman's body found at Barons Haugh RSPB nature reserve

Police have recovered a woman's body from a river at a nature reserve in North Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called to the scene, at the RSPB's Baron's Haugh Reserve, near Motherwell, at about 09:30 on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for the Strathclyde force said the woman's death was currently being treated as unexplained.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
