Man injured in street hammer attack in Paisley

A 24-year-old man has been seriously injured after being attacked with a hammer in Paisley.

Police said the man was assaulted by two men and hit with a hammer in Glen Arklet Drive at about 19:00 on Thursday.

The men then chased him along the street before getting into a dark coloured Peugeot and driving off.

The man was left with a broken nose and a severe eye injury. Detectives have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The first suspect is described as white, 20-30 years, 5ft 7in and was wearing dark clothing and a dark beanie style hat.

The second man was white, mid 20s, 5ft 10in, with short dark hair and was wearing dark clothing and a grey zipper top.

Det Con Stephen Gourley from Strathclyde Police said: "This would appear to be a totally random attack.

"I'd like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Glen Arklet Drive around 1900 hours on Thursday 14 March and who witnessed this attack or anyone who may have seen the suspects hanging around the area either before the attack or making off in the Peugeot vehicle."
