Man sought over Glasgow bookmaker robbery

Police are hunting a man who brandished a firearm during a robbery at a bookmakers in Glasgow.

The man threatened staff at Bet Fred bookmakers in Possil Road, Woodside, before making off with a three-figure sum of cash.

Two members of staff who were in the shop when the incident took place at about 14:00 on Friday were uninjured.

Strathclyde Police described the suspect as white, 30 years old and 5ft 11in tall.

'Frightening experience'

He was wearing a navy blue quilted jacket with a hood, a black scarf over his face, grey jogging bottoms and white Nike "Air Max" trainers.

Const David Hardie, from Greater Glasgow CID, said: "Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident and only a relatively small amount of cash was taken.

"However, this was a very frightening experience for the staff working there.

"Also, what is very concerning here is the fact that this happened in the afternoon in an area which is a busy junction both with pedestrians and vehicles - and this man was in possession of a firearm."
