Martin McClay caught with indecent images of children

A Glasgow-based social worker has admitted downloading 1,234 indecent images of children.

Martin McClay, 50, was caught after someone noticed images on his mobile phone and alerted police.

A subsequent raid at his home in Milngavie, East Dunbartonshire, uncovered images on two mobile phones.

McClay admitted downloading the images between June 2011 and June 2012. His sentence was deferred at Glasgow Sheriff Court and bail continued.

Search warrant

The court was told an "eye witness" spotted images on McClay's phone and passed the information on to the police.

A search warrant was granted and six mobile phones were taken from his house to be analysed.

A Blackberry Curve mobile phone had 16 images and a Nokia had 1,218 although the images had been deleted and were recovered.

McClay answered "no comment" during his police interview and was later arrested.
