Woman, 95, robbed in her Newlands home
A 95-year-old woman was left "extremely distressed" after being robbed in her home in Glasgow, police have said.
A man forced his way into the woman's home in Carlaverock Road, Newlands, at about 14:45 on Thursday before escaping with several of her personal items.
The woman suffered minor injuries to her hand and lip during the robbery.
The suspect is described as white, smartly dressed and with short fair hair. He was of medium height and build and was politely spoken.
Officers are gathering CCTV images from the area in a bid to find the woman's attacker.
They want to trace a white Ford Transit Connect van and a small blue car which were seen in the area.
Det Insp David Stewart, of Police Scotland, said: "It's clear this man had every intention to deceive.
"His actions were despicable and have left an elderly lady extremely distressed within her own home.
"I am appealing to anyone who may have seen or noticed anything to contact us. Newlands Park is opposite the woman's home and is well used by the local community.
