Three arrests over £53,000 of counterfeit bank notes

Three people have been arrested after police raids in Glasgow and Ayrshire uncovered £53,000 of fake bank notes.

Detectives searched the addresses in Queens Crescent and Mavisbank Gardens, Glasgow, and Ardfin Road, Prestwick, South Ayrshire, on Monday and Tuesday.

They arrested two men, aged 35 and 39, and a 43-year-old woman, after discovering counterfeit Royal Bank of Scotland £20 notes.

The three people are expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Police Scotland advised people to check notes they receive carefully and call 101 if they suspect a fake.
