Girl, 16, dies after car leaves A83 near Inveraray

A 16-year-old girl has died after a car left the road and hit a tree in Argyll on Saturday morning, police have said.

She was the front-seat passenger in a Toyota RAV4 car, carrying three people, which came off the A83 about three miles east of Inveraray, at 11:15.

Police said the driver lost control on a left-hand bend.

The 45-year-old female driver and a teenage female rear passenger, were slightly injured. They have both been released from hospital.

The 16-year-old girl died at the scene.

The road was closed for about eight hours with local diversions put in place.
