Nine people have been rescued from a fire at a block of tenement flats in the Govan area of Glasgow.

Crews were called to the four-storey block in Uist Street shortly before 11:00 on Friday.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus led the nine people to safety before the blaze was brought under control.

Seven people, including a young girl, were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation before being taken to the nearby Southern General Hospital.

Five of the people, including the girl, were taken to hospital as a precaution.

An investigation will be carried out into the cause of the blaze.
