Woman, 18, abducted and assaulted in Clydebank

Police are hunting four men who abducted and assaulted an 18-year-old woman in Clydebank.

The victim was in her house, near Clydebank fire station, when she was contacted by a man she thought she knew at about 03:00 on Thursday.

She left and got into a silver BMW car with the four men inside and was then driven around the area and assaulted before being dropped off near her home.

The car was later recovered near Speirs Wharf in Possilpark, Glasgow.

'Frightening ordeal'

Det Ch Insp Scott McMillan, of Police Scotland, said: "This was a particularly frightening ordeal for the 18-year-old woman.

"Fortunately her injuries were not serious and she didn't require medical attention.

"It is believed that at least one of the men involved may have known the female and was looking for information about an associate."

Det Ch Insp McMillan said officers wanted to speak to anyone who was out in the Clydebank area shortly after 03:00 or who may have seen the men getting out of the car in Possilpark.

The vehicle was found at 04:00.

Det Ch Insp McMillan added: "I don't have clear descriptions of the suspects other than four white males with local accents."
