Fire tackled above Taj Mahal restaurant in Prestwick

Dozens of firefighters have been deployed to tackle a fire in a flat above a restaurant in South Ayrshire.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said 25 firefighters had been sent to the scene above the Taj Mahal restaurant on Prestwick High Street.

The blaze was reported at about 11:55 on Friday.

Appliances were sent from Ayrshire fire stations at Ayr, Troon and Dreghorn and from Polmadie in Glasgow and Milngavie in East Dunbartonshire.
