Baby boy dies following breathing problems at Barrhead station

A one-month-old baby boy has died after falling ill at a railway station in East Renfrewshire.

Paramedics were called to Barrhead Railway Station at 15:07 on Thursday following reports that a baby was having difficulty breathing.

The child was treated at the scene and taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital in Paisley where he later died.

A post-mortem examination will be held. Police Scotland are treating the death as unexplained.
