Man, 53, hit by van on A77 in Kilmarnock dies

A 53-year-old man who was critically injured after being hit by a van on the A77 in Kilmarnock has died in hospital.

Thomas Easton, who lived in the town, was hit while walking on the southbound carriageway, two miles north of the Bogend Toll, at about 21:30 on Monday.

He died in Kilmarnock's Crosshouse Hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Police Scotland said the van driver had reported the crash. Officers still want to speak to anyone who may have seen the crash or Mr Easton on the road.
