Dennistoun attack treated as attempted murder

An attack on a 35-year-old man outside a pub in the east end of Glasgow is being treated as attempted murder.

The victim was standing near the LaCala pub in Meadowpark Street, Dennistoun, at about 02:00 when he was attacked by two men.

He was taken to hospital suffering from serious head and facial injuries. His condition was said to be stable.

Both suspects were described as white and in their late teens or early 20s.

One suspect was wearing a dark coloured hooded top and tracksuit trousers.

The other was wearing a blue fleece with a dark coloured, sleeveless body-warmer and a pair of jeans with a distinctive logo on the rear of each leg. He also had a dog with him.

Police appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time to contact them.

Det Con Alan Hutchison said: "It is believed that the suspects had been hanging about in the area prior to the attack and vandalised a number of cars. One car at least had its windscreen smashed to the value of £250 approximately."
