Man arrested over death of Martin Toner in 2004

A man has been arrested in connection with a nine-year-old murder inquiry, police have said.

The body of Martin Toner was found by a farmer in a field near the Renfrewshire village of Langbank on 13 July 2004.

The 34-year-old was facing drug trafficking charges before he died.

A 49-year-old man has been arrested in connection with his death. He is expected to appear from custody at Paisley Sheriff Court later.

Mr Toner was last seen on Tuesday 29 June 2004 at about 15:00 in Main Street, Langbank. It is not known why he was there.

He had been at the Key to Life gym in Ashtree Road, Pollokshields, Glasgow, earlier that day.
