Five people have been injured after a tractor and trailer collided with a car on the A71 in South Lanarkshire.

The westbound LGV Scania and the grey Honda CR-V collided on the A71, about two miles west of the B743, near Strathaven, at 15:15 on Sunday.

The male Honda driver is being treated in hospital for a serious head injury. Four other passengers in the car were released from hospital after treatment.

The LGV driver was uninjured. Police have appealed for witnesses.
