Glasgow 2014: Extra 4,000 netball tickets sell out

A release of 4,000 extra tickets for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games netball finals has sold out in three hours.

The tickets, priced between £15 and £50, went on sale at 11:00 on Thursday.

The extra allocation was made after the netball finals were moved from the SECC halls to the Hydro, doubling the number of spectators able to attend.

All other sessions in the competition will remain in the SECC halls. The netball finals will be held on the 3 August - the closing day of the games.

David Grevemberg, Glasgow 2014 chief executive said: "It's a real thrill to see tickets for this world-class showcase for netball being snapped up so quickly.

"What a great vote of support for Glasgow 2014 and the sport of netball and it brings with it a fantastic opportunity to see the game played at the highest levels by its global stars."

The first phase of ticket sales for Glasgow 2104 ran from 19 August to 16 September 2013, with 2.3 million requests received for the one million tickets available.
