Illegal money lender Thomas Reid to lose £45,000

An illegal money lender is to have assets worth £45,000 confiscated under proceeds of crime laws.

Thomas Reid, 68, from Motherwell, was previously fined £750 after he admitted running an unlicensed consumer credit business between 2005 and 2010.

It was later revealed that he could not account for almost £400,000 in the six years prior to his arrest.

The confiscation order on his available remaining assets was granted at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
