Second pensioner dies after East Kilbride roundabout crash

A 91-year-old man has died a week after a car crash in South Lanarkshire also claimed the life of his wife.

The couple's red Ford Fiesta crashed in to The Centre roundabout, Cornwall Way, East Kilbride at 13:35 on 20 February.

They were freed from the car and taken to nearby Hairmyres Hospital, where the 86-year-old woman later died.

Police confirmed on Friday that her husband had also died. No other vehicle was involved in the crash. Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
