Police have released an image of a 28-year-old man who died after being hit by three cars on the M73 motorway in North Lanarkshire.

Paul McDermott, from Clydebank, was walking on the southbound carriageway near Gartosh at 05:05 on Saturday, when he was struck. He died at the scene.

The drivers of the cars involved were uninjured but badly shaken by the incident.

In a statement released through police his family said: "Paul was a much loved son and brother and will be sorely missed by all the family.

"We would ask that we are left to grieve privately at this very difficult time."
