Knife man sought over robbery at Greggs in Chapelhall
A masked man armed with a knife has stolen a three-figure sum of cash from a Greggs shop in North Lanarkshire.
The man threatened staff at the bakery in Lauchope Street, Chapelhall, at about 13:30 on Monday before running off worth the cash.
No-one was injured in the robbery but two female members of staff were left "very distressed" by the ordeal.
The suspect is described as white, about 5ft 8in tall, with a local accent and was aged between 20 and 30 years.
At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black beanie type hat, black woollen gloves and had a black scarf covering some of his face.
Det Con Nicola Byrne, of Police Scotland, said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw the suspect either before or after the robbery to come forward.
"Lauchope Street is the main street through Chapelhall and may well have been busy with pedestrians and motorists at the time.
"Chapelhall is a close knit community and locals will be disgusted that this has happened to one of their own."
