Man 'touched woman inappropriately' on Motherwell train

CCTV footage is being reviewed in a bid to identify a young man who touched a woman inappropriately on a train.

The 26-year-old victim was assaulted as she was about to get off at Motherwell station at about 15:10 on Friday.

British Transport Police (BTP) said the service was the 14:37 from Glasgow.

The suspect is described as being about 17 years old, 5ft 7in tall, slim build with short hair. He was wearing a light blue tracksuit top, dark tracksuit trousers and carrying a rucksack.

Det Con Andrew Egan, of BTP, said: "There is absolutely no excuse for this sort of unwelcome and unwarranted behaviour and I am therefore appealing for anyone who was on the train or at the stations and can help our ongoing inquiries to identify the male youth to get in touch."
