Fire crews tackle blaze at Uddingston industrial silo

Firefighters are working to contain a major blaze at an industrial silo in South Lanarkshire.

Crews were called to the incident near Broomhouse Lane, Uddingston, at about 01:45 on Tuesday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the silo contained about 100 tonnes of material which was being removed in half-tonne batches.

A thermal imaging camera has been used to monitor the temperature inside the silo and the operation is ongoing.

Fire appliances from Clydesmill Community Fire Station, Polmadie and a heavy rescue vehicle from Easterhouse are at the scene.
