Shipwrecked fisherman saved off Colonsay by Royal Navy helicopter
A fisherman believed to be in his 70s has been rescued after his boat hit rocks and sank off Colonsay.
The man was winched to safety by a Royal Navy helicopter, from HMS Gannet at Prestwick, after spending two hours on a rocky outcrop on Thursday morning.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said the man was not wearing a life jacket and did not have other basic safety equipment, such as flares.
The agency said he had had "a very lucky escape".
