Probe into tenement blaze in Pollokshields in Glasgow
An investigation is under way into the cause of a fire at tenement flats in the south side of Glasgow.
Firecrews were called to the three-storey building in Maxwell Road, in the city's Pollokshields area, shortly before 22:00 on Thursday.
Flats in the surrounding area were evacuated while crews brought the blaze under control.
No-one was hurt in the fire. One woman received a precautionary check-up from paramedics at the scene.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said crews and appliances were sent to the blaze from Polmadie and Calton fire stations.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus began tackling the fire from inside the building, while a high reach appliance was set up to provide an external water tower.
The fire service aid the blaze was "quickly extinguished as crews contained the spread of fire within the roof space".
Station manager Mark Tungatt, the incident commander, said: "This was an extremely challenging incident with the spread of fire from the flat to the roof space and crews were faced with extreme heat and the possibility of persons still located within the flat.
"The crews worked extremely well to tackle the blaze and quickly get it under control."
