Man on bridge disrupts cross-border Virgin train services

Virgin train at Glasgow Central station The incident has disrupted cross-border Virgin train services from Glasgow Central station

Virgin trains operating out of Glasgow Central Station have experienced disruption after a man got on to a bridge parapet in northern England.

Several services were terminated at Carlisle, with bus connections taking passengers on to Preston.

Virgin said the man had been removed shortly after 12:30 on Wednesday and power restored to the line.

Services are running again but delays are expected to continue as a result of trains and staff being out of position.

Virgin has apologised to passengers affected.
