Man arrested over Irvine sex attack

A man has been arrested in connection with a sex attack in Irvine on Thursday evening.

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly attacked after being pulled into a wood as she walked along the town's Bank Street, at about 20:55.

Police said a 24-year-old man had been arrested and was currently detained in custody in connection with the alleged incident.

He is expected to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday.
