Water restored after broken valve affects Glasgow and Paisley areas
Water has been restored to most parts of Glasgow and Renfrewshire which were affected by a broken valve.
Tens of thousands of customers earlier experienced a loss of water supply or reduced water pressure.
The problem affected properties in Govan, Ibrox, Hillington, Cardonald, Bellahouston, Mosspark, Crookston, Pollok, Darnley, Paisley and Renfrew.
Scottish Water said it was working to restore normal supplies to all properties.
A spokesman said: "We understand the frustration that this outage has caused for customers and apologise.
"Water has now been returned to most areas, however, some higher properties may experience low pressure as this extensive distribution network refills with water.
"Our engineers are working hard to make sure the water network continues to refill. We expect to see normal service restored as soon as possible."
The spokesman added: "There was a loss of water supply or reduced water pressure following a problem with a valve in our network this morning. We apologise for the inconvenience that has resulted."
The utility firm said some customers may initially have discoloured water when their normal supplies were restored which should clear in due course.
