Robber in raid on Glasgow branch of Bank of Scotland

A robber threatened staff before fleeing a bank in Glasgow with a four-figure sum.

Police were called to the Bank of Scotland branch in Clarkston Road, Muirend, at about 12:45.

The robber, who was wearing dark overalls and a black skip cap, was last seen running into Cairndow Avenue. No one was injured during the raid.

Det Insp Alistair Barlow said: "This was a very frightening experience for the staff in the bank."

He added: "We are checking CCTV at the moment and are considering the possibility that the suspect may have been hanging around nearby just prior to the robbery."
