The 32-year-old victim boarded the 18:23 Balloch to Cumbernauld train at Dalmuir on Wednesday.
During the journey, he was subjected to racial abuse by another man in his 40s. The abuse continued when both men got off the train at Anniesland station.
The man responsible was described as being about 5ft 10in tall, of heavy build, with short dark hair.
At the time of the abuse, he had a bike with him and was wearing grey tracksuit trousers and an orange hi-visibility jacket.
