Woman dies and four injured in Lendalfoot crash

A 78-year-old woman has died and four others have been seriously injured in a crash involving two cars on the A77 in South Ayrshire.

The woman was a passenger in a Toyota Prius which collided with a Honda Civic near Lendalfoot at 18:20 on Sunday.

The 78-year-old male driver of the Prius was treated in hospital for internal injuries and his condition was said to be critical.

A seven-year-old girl in the Honda is in a serious condition in hospital.

The 47-year-old driver of the Honda and his 48-year-old female passenger were said to be in a stable condition.

Police said the Toyota Prius was travelling north on the A77 when it collided with the Honda Civic that was travelling south.
