Murder inquiry launched by police after Bishopbriggs death

Police have said they are following a "positive line of inquiry" following the death of a man in Bishopbriggs.

John McFarlane, 28, was seriously injured near his home in Auchinairn Road at about 22:35 on Thursday.

He died a short time later at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. His death is being treated as murder.

Police are investigating a disturbance on Springfield Road, close to Auchinairn Road, in which Mr McFarlane is thought to have been attacked.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
