Man punched in face during attack in Largs

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was punched in the head and face as he walked down a street in North Ayrshire.

He was walking along Main Street in Largs at about 02:25 on Saturday when he was approached by a man who attacked him and knocked him to the ground.

The victim was taken to hospital with head and facial injuries but was released after treatment.

The suspect, who was white, was wearing a blue polo shirt.

Det Con Scott Moore said: "We are currently trying to establish a motive for this attack.

"At the time of the assault, the area was busy with members of the public. I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and witnessed this attack to come forward."
