Police name man killed as he crossed road in Paisley

A man who died after he was hit by a car in Paisley at the weekend has been named.

Ronald Longwill, 54, was struck by a Vauxhall Astra as he crossed Love Street at 21:05 on Saturday.

Mr Longwill, who lived in the town's Blythswood Drive, was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital where he died.

The 24-year-old driver of the car was uninjured in the incident. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal and police inquiries are ongoing.

Officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
