Two teenagers who died after the car they were travelling in crashed in Langbank in Renfrewshire have been named by police.

Adam Crawford, 19, was driving and Liam Whiteford, 18, was a passenger in a Seat Ibiza which left the carriageway and hit a tree on Old Greenock Road.

It happened between Finlaystone Estate and Gleddoch House, at about 15:45 on Thursday.

An 18-year-old man in the back seat was treated in hospital then released.

No other car was involved.

Both men who died were from Foxbar in Paisley.

Police said the three teenagers were travelling home from James Watt College in Greenock where they were all studying painting and decorating.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Sgt Mark Milller from Police Scotland said: "Officers have been with Adam and Liam's family all day today. They are understandably shattered by their loss. Adam is an only child and Liam is an only son (he has four sisters).

"I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this crash or who saw the car in Old Greenock Road, between Finlaystone Estate and Gleddoch House Hotel, prior to the crash."
