Karen McBride loses crime cash over amphetamine in freezer

A woman who was caught with more than 700g of amphetamine in a freezer at her Glasgow home has had £4,000 seized under proceeds of crime legislation.

Karen McBride was jailed for two years and three months after the drug haul, worth £7,150, was seized at her home in Drumchapel on 2 November 2011.

A subsequent investigation found that she was unable to account for thousands of pounds of earnings.

The confiscation order against her was granted at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

The money recovered will be put to good use through the Scottish government's CashBack for Communities programme.
