Man reported over Newton Mearns hit-and-run which hurt boy

A 76-year-old man has been reported to prosecutors over a hit-and-run incident in Newton Mearns in East Renfrewshire.

A 14-year-old boy was struck by a car while crossing Ayr Road, near Firwood Road, at about 08:00 on 5 January. The car paused then drove off.

The boy was treated for a broken wrist at Glasgow Victoria Infirmary.

Police said the 76-year-old man had been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with alleged road traffic offences.
