Appeal after man found dead on shore in Saltcoats

Police have appealed for information after the body of a young man was found in Saltcoats at the weekend.

A member of the public discovered Paul Fitzpatrick's body on the shore of the North Ayrshire town, close to Seaview Road, at about 09:15 on Saturday.

Police Scotland said there was nothing suspicious about his death and they wanted to establish his last movements,

They said the 25-year-old, who was from Saltcoats, was last seen in nearby Ardrossan, on Thursday 22 January.

Det Insp William McDicken said: "A post mortem examination has taken place and whilst there is nothing to suggest that there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr Fitzpatrick's death, we are still working to establish his last movements in the local area.

"He was last seen in the Ardrossan, near Stanley Road around 1730 hours on Thursday 22 January 2015.

"At that time he was wearing a red t-shirt, grey zipped top and grey tracksuit trousers. He is white around 5ft 9in in height and of slim build with light red hair.

"I would ask anyone who thinks they might have seen Paul in the Ardrossan area after this time to contact us, as they may be able to help us establish his last movements."
