Arthur Green death in Prestwick: Murder probe police officers arrested
Three police officers have been arrested after the family of an alleged murder victim claimed the investigation into his death had been botched.
The body of 60-year-old Arthur Green was found at his home in Prestwick at about 08:10 on 20 November.
It is understood the police officers - men aged 44, 38 and 28 - were arrested and later released on 14 January.
Three other men appeared in court in December charged with Mr Green's murder. They were released on bail.
Asked about officers being detained in relation to the investigation, a spokesman for Police Scotland said: "We can confirm that three men aged 44, 38 and 28 were arrested on January 14 and later released.
"A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal and a report has been prepared for the deputy chief constable."
Dale Russell, 34, of Girvan, Ross Russell, 33, of Maidens, and Harry Hood, 44, of Ayr, all Ayrshire, appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court in December charged with murdering Mr Green.
They were freed on bail after prosecutors lost a high court appeal to have them remanded in custody.
