Bomb disposal experts safely remove 'suspicious item' from house

Bomb disposal experts were called to a house in Ayrshire after police received reports of a suspicious item being put through a door.

Police and Royal Navy explosive experts were called to the house in Loreny Drive, Kilmarnock, at 04.25 on Tuesday.

The item was removed safely from the property. Police said inquiries were ongoing, but no arrests had been made.

A spokesman said: "Police and the Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit attended and removed the item."
