Armed robbery at Co-op store in Kilbarchan

Police are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at a shop in Kilbarchan, Renfrewshire.

The male robber threatened members of staff with a weapon before leaving the Co-op store in High Barholm with a three-figure sum.

No members of staff were injured during the incident which took place at about 20:35 on Saturday.

The suspect is white, in his 30s, 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in, of medium build and possibly spoke with an English accent.

He was wearing a dark hooded top with the hood up and dark trousers. He was also carrying a white carrier bag.

Det Con Grant Spy said: "We are carrying out inquiries in the local area, including checking CCTV, in an effort to trace the man responsible and police patrols in the area have been increased as a result.

"The weather at the time of the incident was particularly bad and anyone out walking at the time would have stood out due to this."
