Man found with cuts to face and neck
Police are investigating an attempted murder after a man was found in the street in the west end of Glasgow with cuts to his face and neck.
The wounded 31-year-old man was traced by police after he had been seen walking near Highburgh Road at its junction with Byres Road on Thursday.
He was taken to the city's Western Infirmary but later discharged himself.
Police said extensive inquiries had been carried out by officers to establish the circumstances.
They also wanted to find out where the attack took place.
Det Insp Tom McKean said: "Officers are continuing to study CCTV footage in an effort to gather as much information on this incident as possible, and are carrying out enquiries in the local area.
"Enquiries have revealed that four people - three men and one woman - came to the man's assistance in Highburgh Road at Byres Road.
"Unfortunately they had left before police arrival, and I would urge them to contact officers as a matter of urgency as they may have information that is vital to this investigation.
"I would also ask anyone who was in the Highburgh Road and Byres Road areas on Thursday evening who witnessed anything suspicious, or who has any information that may assist police enquiries to contact Police Scotland on 101."
