Partick Thistle fan Ian McCormack banned over racist abuse

A Partick Thistle fan has been given a two year football banning order for shouting racist abuse at a home game against Hibernian.

Ian McCormack was arrested during the match at Firhill Stadium, in Glasgow, on 15 March last year, after a complaint was made to police.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, the 43-year-old from Edinburgh admitted offensive behaviour and making a racially offensive remark.

He was also fined £560.

Football liaison prosecutor for the west of Scotland, Stephen Ferguson, said: "McCormack chose to shout racially offensive comments in a stand busy with families and young people.

"Police and prosecutors take such offences very seriously and will continue to do all we can to bring those who persist in committing them to justice."
