Human remains found at a country park in Milngavie have been identified as a missing Glasgow man.

Fifty-two-year-old, John Murphy, failed to arrive at work after leaving his home in Dennistoun in May last year.

His remains were discovered near the waterworks within the grounds of Mugdock Country Park last month.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out and Police Scotland said the death was not being treated as suspicious.

Mr Murphy, a married father of five, left his home in Craigpark Drive at about 07:00 on 12 May, 2015, and headed towards Duke Street to catch a bus to work.

He did not turn up at his workplace and was reported missing by his family that evening.

In November Mr Murphy's family appealed for help to trace him at a police news conference.
