An investigation is under way after a 37-year-old woman was raped in a popular Glasgow park.

Police said the woman was subjected to a serious sexual assault in Queen's Park, near the Strathbungo and Shawlands areas, on 30 March.

The park, at Pollokshaws Road and Balvicar Street, has been cordoned off.

Police have appealed for anyone who was in the park at about 23:00 on 30 March and who saw anyone acting suspiciously to get in touch.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A police investigation is continuing in relation to a 37-year-old-woman who was seriously sexually assaulted on the evening of Wednesday 30 March 2016, in Queens Park, Glasgow.

"Inquiries are at an early stage to establish more details on this incident.

"At this time, we would ask anyone who was in the park late on Wednesday 30 March 2016 from 11pm, and witnessed the assault or anyone acting suspiciously to contact London Road Police Office."
