Pensioner 'critical' in hospital after being hit by bus in Glasgow

A pensioner is in a critical condition in hospital after being struck by a bus in Glasgow, police have said.

Officers said the man, who has not been named, was crossing Glassford Street, at its junction with Ingram St, at about 21:15 on Monday when he was struck by a First Bus.

He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary suffering from a serious head injuries and a fractured hip.

He has since been transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Medical staff described his condition as critical but stable.

Neither the bus driver or any of the passengers were injured as a result.

Glassford Street was closed for five hours for inquiries.

Police said they did not have an age for the man.
