Woman seriously injured after being hit by bus in Glasgow

A 28-year-old woman has been seriously injured after being hit by a bus in Glasgow city centre.

Police Scotland said the crash happened at about 12:30 on Broomielaw, near to the junction with Brown Street.

The woman was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Hospital staff said she was in serious condition.

Eyewitnesses said the incident had taken place in the bus lane near Atlantic Quay. The bus windscreen was smashed in the incident.

Sgt William Graham said: "The Broomielaw will have been busy around the time of the incident with motorists driving by as well as people on their lunch breaks.

"I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed what happened to contact officers at the Road Policing Department in Glasgow on 101."
