The headliners for this year's Piping Live! music festival in Glasgow have been unveiled.

They include RURA, Anxo Lorenzo, Ross Ainslie and Ali Hutton and the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

Organisers of the international festival said some of the "hottest names in traditional music" would be at the week-long event in August.

Band performances will take place in the city's George Square and on the steps of the Royal Concert Hall.

The annual Pipe Idol competition will also be held.

Festival director Roddy MacLeod said: "Bagpipes strike an emotional chord with people all over the world. There's no other instrument that can make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck quite like the pipes.

"This year's line-up is all about celebrating the rich history and international diversity of the bagpipes while heralding the future with some of the most exciting new players in the traditional music scene."

Now in its 13th year, Piping Live! attracts 40,000 people from around the world each year to watch more than 5,000 international pipers perform at 150 events across Glasgow.

The festival will take place from 8-14 August, with tickets going on sale on Saturday 30 April.
